Pipe Flow Puzzle
How to Play Pipe Flow
Pipe Flow is a relaxing yet challenging logic puzzle game where you take on the role of a master plumber. Your objective is to rotate various pipe segments on a grid to create a continuous, leak-free connection between the Start (S) and End (E) markers. Once the path is complete, the water will flow, and you’ll advance to the next level.
The Objective
The game begins with water waiting at the Start tile. You must click or tap the individual pipe segments to rotate them until a path is formed that leads all the way to the End tile. When a pipe becomes part of a successful connection, it will glow bright cyan to show that water is reaching it.
Official Rules
The mechanics are straightforward, but the puzzles become increasingly complex as the grid grows:
- Fixed Tiles: The Start (S) and End (E) tiles are fixed and cannot be moved or rotated.
- Rotating Tiles: Every other tile on the board can be rotated 90 degrees clockwise with a single click or tap.
- Path Logic: A connection is only valid if the openings of two adjacent pipes line up perfectly.
- Water Flow: You win the level when a single, unbroken chain of connected pipes links the Start marker to the End marker.
- Levels: There are currently 3 levels to master, ranging from a 5×5 grid to a more difficult 7×7 layout.
Understanding the Pipe Types
There are four primary pipe shapes you will encounter:
| Pipe Type | Description |
| I-Pipe | A straight connection that links two opposite sides. |
| L-Pipe | A corner piece that creates a 90-degree turn. |
| T-Pipe | A three-way junction that can split or merge the flow. |
| X-Pipe | A four-way cross-junction connecting all adjacent sides. |
Top Strategies to Win
Work Forward and Backward
Don’t just build from the Start tile. Sometimes it is easier to look at the End (E) marker and trace the path backward. Since the End tile has a fixed direction, you can often determine exactly which type of pipe needs to sit next to it.
Isolate the “Dead Ends”
Look for tiles that are surrounded by empty space or the edge of the board. If a tile only has two possible neighbors, its orientation becomes much easier to deduce.
Use the Glow as a Guide
The game provides real-time feedback. If a pipe is glowing cyan, it means it is successfully connected to the water source. Use this to verify your path segment by segment. If the glow stops, you know exactly where the “leak” is located.
The Hint System
If you find yourself stuck, click the 💡 Hint button. The game will identify one tile that is currently in the wrong position and give it a brief orange highlight to nudge you in the right direction.
