Brain Lines
How to Play Brain Lines
Brain Lines is a physics-based puzzle game that tests your creativity and understanding of gravity. Your mission is to guide a red ball into a green goal basket by drawing custom lines that act as ramps, bridges, or barriers.
The Objective
Each level presents you with a red ball suspended in the air and a green basket positioned somewhere on the grid. You must draw lines on the screen to create a path for the ball. Once you are satisfied with your drawing, you “drop” the ball and watch physics take over.
Official Rules
The game balances freedom of drawing with strict physics logic:
- Drawing Phase: Use your finger or mouse to draw any shape on the screen. These lines become solid physical objects once you finish the stroke.
- The Drop: The ball remains static until you press the 🔴 Drop Ball button. At that moment, gravity is activated.
- Collision Physics: The ball will bounce off and roll along any lines you have drawn, as well as the pre-set grey obstacles.
- Winning: You complete the level when the ball comes to a rest inside the green basket.
- Losing: You lose the level if the ball falls off the sides or bottom of the screen, or if it gets stuck for too long without reaching the goal.
Understanding the UI & Tools
- Undo (↩): Made a mistake? The Undo button removes your most recent stroke so you can refine your path.
- Line Counter: Keep an eye on how many lines you’ve used. While there is no limit, solving a puzzle with a single clever stroke is the ultimate challenge!
- Level Progress: The game features 5 hand-crafted training levels followed by an infinite supply of randomly generated puzzles.
Top Strategies to Win
Think with Momentum
The ball doesn’t just fall; it gains speed. If your ramp is too steep, the ball might fly right over the basket. If it’s too flat, the ball might stop before reaching the end. Angle your lines carefully to control the ball’s velocity.
The “Funnel” Technique
If the goal is small, draw two lines that form a wide “V” shape leading into the basket. This creates a funnel effect, catching the ball even if your initial ramp wasn’t perfectly aligned.
Use Obstacles to Your Advantage
Don’t just draw around the grey planks—use them! You can draw a small “kick” line to bounce the ball off a fixed obstacle and redirect it toward the goal.
The Safety Net
In later, more difficult levels, try drawing a long “safety net” at the bottom of the screen before you start your main ramp. This gives you a second chance to catch the ball if it falls off your primary path.
