Puzzle Kuku
How to Play Puzzle Kuku
Puzzle Kuku is a minimalist, fast-paced vision and color-perception game. The objective is simple but increasingly difficult: identify the one square on the grid that has a slightly different shade than the rest. You are racing against the clock to score as many points as possible before your time runs out.
The Objective
The game begins with a simple $2 \times 2$ grid. One square is a “Target” tile—it will be either slightly lighter or slightly darker than the “Base” tiles. Each time you find and tap the correct square, your score increases, and the game generates a new, more challenging round.
Official Rules
The game mechanics are designed to test your focus and speed:
- The Grid: The game starts on a $2 \times 2$ grid. As your score grows, the grid expands up to a maximum of $9 \times 9$.
- Correct Tap: Tapping the unique tile awards +1 point and immediately generates the next round.
- Wrong Tap: Tapping the wrong tile triggers a “shake” animation and results in a 3-second time penalty.
- Dynamic Difficulty: The color difference between the target and the rest of the tiles shrinks as your score increases, making it much harder to distinguish the unique square in later rounds.
- Game Over: The game ends when the 60-second timer reaches zero.
Understanding the Eye Levels
At the end of your session, the game evaluates your performance and assigns you an “Eye Level” based on your score:
| Score | Eye Level | Description |
| 50+ | 🦅 Eagle Eye | Inhuman color perception! |
| 35-49 | 🔬 Microscopic | You see what others can’t! |
| 25-34 | 💎 Diamond | Crystal clear vision! |
| 18-24 | ⚡ Sharp | Above average eyesight! |
| 12-17 | 👀 Strong | Solid color recognition! |
| 6-11 | 👁️ Normal | Average color perception. |
| 0-5 | 😵 Foggy | Keep training your eyes! |
Top Strategies to Win
Peripheral Vision is Key
Instead of focusing on each individual tile one by one, try to soften your gaze and look at the grid as a whole. Often, the “odd one out” will pop out to your peripheral vision more quickly than if you scan row by row.
Watch the Timer
Keep an eye on the Time stat at the top. The timer will turn orange at 20 seconds and red at 10 seconds. When it pulses red, you need to move as fast as possible, but be careful—a single wrong tap can cost you 3 precious seconds.
Adjust Your Brightness
Because the color difference ($diff$) becomes as small as 6 points in high scores, the brightness and contrast of your screen can significantly impact your performance. Playing in a well-lit room with your screen at a comfortable brightness often helps in spotting the subtle variations.
Don’t Guess Randomly
In a $9 \times 9$ grid, the odds of guessing correctly are low. Since the penalty for a wrong answer is 3 seconds, it is usually better to take an extra 0.5 seconds to be certain before you tap.
