Jewel Match Quest
How to Play Jewel Match Quest
Jewel Match Quest is a vibrant, fast-paced match-3 puzzle game that challenges your speed and pattern recognition. Your goal is to swap dazzling gemstones to create matching lines and clear them from the board. Unlike traditional puzzle games, you are racing against a constantly draining timer that only refills when you make successful matches.
The Objective
The game is played on an 8×8 grid filled with five types of precious jewels. Your mission is to clear as many jewels as possible to rack up a high score before the ⏱ Time runs out.
Official Rules
The game features intuitive drag-and-drop or tap-to-swap mechanics:
- Matching: Swap any two adjacent jewels to create a horizontal or vertical line of 3 or more identical gems.
- Swapping: You can swap jewels by clicking one and then clicking its neighbor, or by dragging a jewel in the direction you want it to go.
- Invalid Moves: If a swap does not result in a match, the jewels will shake and return to their original positions.
- The Cascade: When jewels are cleared, new ones drop in from the top to fill the gaps. If these new jewels form a match automatically, you earn a Combo.
- Game Over: The game ends if the Timer hits zero or if the board becomes “stuck” with no possible matches remaining.
Understanding the Scoring & Timer
This game rewards both efficiency and speed:
- Base Score: Each matched jewel is worth 80 points.
- The Combo Multiplier: Every consecutive match in a single turn increases your combo (×2, ×3, etc.), multiplying the points earned for that match.
- Time Bonuses: Making matches is the only way to stay alive.
- You earn 1.2 seconds for every jewel matched.
- High-level combos grant an additional 2-second bonus per combo level.
- Timer States: * Blue: Healthy time remaining.
- Orange (Warn): Less than 3 seconds left.
- Red (Danger): Less than 2 seconds left—the bar will pulse as a final warning!
Top Strategies to Win
Focus on the Bottom
Whenever possible, make matches near the bottom of the grid. This causes the maximum number of jewels above to shift, significantly increasing the probability of a “Cascade” and a high-scoring combo.
Go for 4 and 5-of-a-Kind
The game logic awards a massive score bonus for matching 4 or 5 jewels at once. Always scan the board for these larger opportunities rather than just settling for 3-jewel matches.
Chain Your Combos
A single ×5 combo is worth much more than five separate ×1 matches. Try to set up the board so that one move triggers a chain reaction. The labels “GREAT!”, “AMAZING!”, and “GODLIKE!” will let you know you’re on the right track.
Watch the “Best” Score
The game automatically saves your highest score locally. Use this as a benchmark to push your speed and tactical planning further with every “New Game.”
